Best time to water your garden vegetables
The best time to give your thirsty garden plants a drink is on a bright, sunny morning. Many people water at night, when they get home from work. Night air plus wet plants in your garden equals susceptibility to disease. If you find that watering just isn’t working with your schedule, consider setting up drip irrigation that releases on a timer. This way, your garden veggies will get the watering they need at the right time of day, and you won’t have to miss out on your busy life!
Best time to pick vegetables
Believe it or not, there’s a right and wrong time to pick vegetables from your garden. The right time is on a dry day, while it’s still light out. There’s an excellent reason for this: your plants are more vulnerable when they’re wet. This is the case for some plants (for example, beans) more than others… but even so, based on that notion alone I’d stay out of the garden if things were the least bit damp.
So, if it’s raining, or if the evening dew has formed on your vegetable garden plants, stay away until conditions are drier.
